GMRS is a two-way radio service in the United States which is governed by the FCC. It is primarily for family and non-business communications.

To use GMRS you must hold a valid GMRS License granted by the FCC. At present time, it costs $80.00 for a 5-year license. This license also covers your immediate family. There is no test involved to obtain this license.
